Quay Law is a small, focused law firm situated in the residential area of Remuera. This website is dedicated to unit title property and conveyancing, and we act for buyers and sellers of unit title property throughout Auckland and beyond.
Clients deal directly with the people working on their matters, from the first enquiry through to completion.
We act for clients right across Auckland, from the North Shore and Whangaparāoa in the north to Pukekohe in the south. We also help clients from a satellite office in the Coromandel, and we act for clients through the Waikato and Tauranga and all the way down to the bottom of the South Island. We cover the whole of New Zealand.
We created unittitle.co.nz because unit title transactions deserve particular care. The documents are extensive, the law changed significantly in 2022 and the consequences of missing something can be costly. We wanted to set out clearly how the process works and what we look for on our clients’ behalf.
Ian is the principal of Quay Law. He has more than 30 years of experience in law, including 25 years in practice in New Zealand and, before that, in South Africa. He has written on the conveyancing process for publications including NZ Home Owners magazine.
Ian advises on unit title purchases and sales, off the plan purchases and the conveyancing that goes with them. All legal advice on unit title matters at Quay Law is given by Ian.
Ian holds a B Com, an LLB and a Higher Diploma in Tax Law. He is admitted to practise in New Zealand and overseas and is a member of the New Zealand Law Society.
Michael is a law clerk at Quay Law and is often clients’ first point of contact. He assists with gathering body corporate documents, coordinating with real estate agents, lenders and body corporate managers, and keeping clients informed of progress. Michael works under Ian’s supervision.
